Established in 2001 by a group of professionals bound together by their passion and commitment to making Sitapur an educational hub.

20+

Years of service in the field of education

Sitapur Shiksha Sansthan (Trust) Sitapur, is a non-profit charitable Trust, registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. This was the fruition of Ms. Rajrani’s dream. Under her leadership, she brought together a like-minded group of people comprising an architect, a doctor, an engineer and three educators and entrusted to them her savings of Rs.5100 to begin this journey. The Trust was set up with the express purpose of establishing and promoting institutions of higher learning in fields of agriculture, applied sciences, engineering, education, management and medicine. However, this is not all what the Trust is about today. Over the years, the Trust has widened its purpose and the scope of its activities in response to new opportunities in the higher education sector of the country and the needs of India’s labour market. The guiding principle has been constant – inclusive quality education alongside employment and employability.

Timeline

The Trust opened its gates to students for the first time in 2005 with the beginning of B.Ed and B.Tech programmes, slowly and steadily making its footprint in the domain of professional and technical education. In the very first decade of its existence, Sitapur Shiksha Sansthan (Trust) Sitapur, also started graduate programmes in pharmacy, paramedical sciences and architecture. At the same time, engineering education in India came under duress for a variety of reasons and this impacted the Sansthan as well. This prompted us to reinvigorate our curriculum, strengthen our faculty and pedagogical tools and to develop linkages with industry. In the year 2007, we suffered an irreparable loss in the death of our founder Trustee, Ms. Rajrani. The mantle was taken up by Ms. Tanushri Mehrotra, who replaced Ms. Rajrani on the Trust. She, along with, the founder MD cum Chairman, Mr. Lalit Kishore Mehrotra, set forth the Sansthan’s roadmap for the next decade.

2010s saw the Sansthan adding more courses to existing programmes. The Sansthan made special efforts to attract students from the eastern side of Uttar Pradesh which still lagged on several development parameters. By way of establishing a polytechnic and an industrial training institute, the Sansthan encouraged dropouts to continue with their education and acquire skills that would improve their employability. The learnings of first ten years made it clear that for education to be truly transformative, there is need to work on all levels of education. Only when foundational skills, understanding and expression are in place, can India reap its demographic dividend in the long run. With this thinking, the Sansthan took its first step in primary education and brought the internationally renowned banner of Delhi Public School to Sitapur. This decade also saw the Sansthan invest in edu-technologies in a major way.

The district of Sitapur is one of the most backward districts of the country; jobs and health infrastructure being overriding concerns. Moving forward, the Sansthan will prioritise these. Over the next ten years, the Sansthan envisions building a state of the art medical hospital and research centre catering to the local population and neighboring districts. At a time, when out of the pocket expenditure on education and health is crippling the weaker sections, we aim to enable access to both by providing the requisite infrastructure, services and aid. Jobs and income are important source for dignity and security. We, at the Sansthan, have tried to deliver on these fronts by creating opportunities at various levels of faculty, non-teaching and ancillary staff. Our policy of local procurement supports local businesses and trades. We firmly believe that educational institutions are inextricably linked with their host societies and cultures. To this end, we organize special events and drives to promote holistic mutual learning and development. For example, in the past we have organised blood donation camps; conducted awareness campaigns on health, cleanliness and sanitation; hosted sport tournaments; organised exhibitions showcasing local crafts, talent and innovation; tree plantation drives etc. In whatever small way and to whatever extent possible, we reaffirm to continue and scale up such efforts.
